The question you will hear more often than any other in your lifetime is, "What do you do?" Even though most people are posed this question at least once a week, it's always a struggle to come up with a quick answer.

But as a business owner, you should have an answer on hand every moment of the day. You never know when you are going to meet your next client or customer.

So how do you present your business in an interesting and memorable way, while keeping to a quick answer? Here are a few guidelines to help you craft a perfect presentation that can be given in 60 seconds or less:

Decide what you want people to remember most about your business and make that the first thing that comes out of your mouth. Choose something impressive like, "I own the only website on the Internet that does ____."

Craft a USP (Unique Selling Position) phrase or sentence that describes your business. Think of what sets you apart from other businesses that do the same thing as you, and present that as your USP statement.

Add crediblity to your business by giving some kind of stat. Maybe you've been in business for a decade or you were recently featured in a trade magazine. If you know the needs of the person you're talking to, tie some kind of benefit your business offers into your presentation. You can sell them without letting them know you're selling them.
